23% of national egg production and 25% of national chicken production are held back in Santander
The blockades, which have lasted five days in Santander, are holding back 23% of the national egg production and 25% of the national chicken production. This was warned by the departmental director of the National Federation of Poultry Farmers of Colombia (Fenavi), Martha Ruth Velásquez, in a dialogue with Noticias RCN:

TL;DR
- 23% of national egg production and 25% of national chicken production are blocked in Santander.
- 10 million eggs and 1,500 tons of chicken are currently held up.
- 57 million birds are at risk due to a lack of feed, which is transported through affected routes.
- Some farms are implementing restricted diets for the birds.
- There is a risk of chicken shortages, and eggs may not be suitable for consumption due to transportation issues.
- The poultry sector relies heavily on feed from Atlantic ports to Bucaramanga, a route impacted by the blockades.
