The "Ghost Houses" of the Ortega-Murillo Flagship Housing Program
DIVERGENTES and CONNECTAS accessed contracts that the Daniel Ortega and Rosario Murillo regime signed for over 46 million dollars for the construction of 5,640 social housing units in two subdivisions of the Bismarck Martínez program, in Managua. Through satellite imagery, it was verified that only 27% of the houses were built by the contract completion dates. The transactions leave a float of over 30 million dollars, the destination of which was a network of businessmen close to high-ranking Sandinista officials.
