The complaint, which circulates through several audiovisual recordings on social media, pointed to racist gestures by local fans against the Corinthians crowd, which could lead to severe sanctions for the Bogotá institution. A fan account of the São Paulo club, @Casalcoringao, shared images in which Santa Fe fans, located in the eastern stands, are seen making discriminatory acts against the visiting crowd in the southern section. Among the most common gestures, the 'monkey' gesture is evident, among others that have been used to attack. So far, those responsible for these behaviors have not been identified by the authorities or the club. This incident adds to the throwing of objects at the Corinthians players at the end of the match, worsening the case that the governing body of South American football could open against the Colombian team. Conmebol has historically toughened its punishments for racism issues, applying substantial financial fines and partial or total stadium closures. Recently, a Boca Juniors fan captured in Brazil was charged with racism after making gestures to Cruzeiro fans. The atmosphere in the capital stadium reached its peak tension after the final whistle, amidst boos and shouts from the fans after letting victory slip away in the final minutes. The Santa Fe squad members confronted the Brazilian goalkeeper Hugo Souza, who was accused of making provocative gestures towards the local stands during the match.
