Twenty-five people linked to Tren de Aragua detained in large operation in Peru
Peruvian authorities arrested twenty-five people on Thursday, allegedly linked to two factions of the transnational criminal organization Tren de Aragua, in a major operation conducted across eight regions of the country, official sources reported. The Public Ministry of the Andean country indicated that the Second Specialized Supraprovincial Prosecutor's Office against Organized Crime achieved the preliminary judicial detention of the accused allegedly linked to the human trafficking and sexual exploitation networks Hijos de Dios and Tren del Llano. The authorities emphasized that the aforementioned groups are factions of the Venezuelan-origin transnational criminal organization Tren de Aragua. According to investigations, both networks operated in the country since June 2023 and were responsible for the transfer of Venezuelan and Colombian women to Peru, who were taken to hostels, nightclubs, and night clubs, and charged between 15,000 and 20,000 soles (4,250 and 5,665 dollars, respectively) for travel, accommodation, and consolidation of 'slots' before being sexually exploited.
