Cardenales was on the verge of the Venezuelan Professional Baseball League (LVBP). The League's president, Franklin Whaite, had expressed his agreement with the idea. For their part, the teams were also open to the possibility of expansion. However, Leones and Tiburones made it a condition that the entry involve two teams and not just one. So Antonio Herrera Gutiérrez, owner of the red team, had to wait for his promise to the people of Lara to come true. The dream would not materialize in 1964.
