National medicine consumption increased 10% year-on-year in February

Data from the Venezuelan Chamber of Pharmacies (Cavefar) indicate that, for the month of February, the consumption of medicines in the country had an increase of 10% compared to the same month in 2025. The president of the guild, Alicia Pinedo, detailed that the majority of drugs that are commercialized are those called generics, which are sold mainly by independent pharmacies. Pinedo specified that more than 85% of the medicines commercialized in the country are of national manufacturing and the remainder corresponds to imports. Likewise, she informed that, together with the national Executive and the Vice-presidency of Science, Technology and Health; they have participated in working groups to address issues such as the supply of essential medicines, sanitary control and "everything that is digitalization so that all procedures are automated and there can be traceability and prompt response", she said in an interview for Unión Radio.
