European Union Donates 150,000 Euros to Support Those Affected by Water Crisis in Northeastern Venezuela
The European Union (EU) has donated 150,000 euros (175,000 dollars) to help those most affected by a water crisis declared in the Venezuelan state of Sucre, in the northeast of the country, and which extends to some sectors of Nueva Esparta, the bloc's delegation in Caracas reported this Friday. In a press release, it indicated that, since February 22, a failure in a drinking water supply system caused by seismic events has left thousands of families in Sucre and in the island region of Nueva Esparta without service. The EU's contribution "will allow the Venezuelan Red Cross's emergency response to be supported for three months" and, among the planned actions, includes the distribution of drinking water, as well as the delivery of material for its storage and purification, according to the note.
