“And my future?”: Ortega compromises the education of 600,000 children and young people with his hunt for NGOs

The massive closure of NGOs perpetrated by the Ortega-Murillo regime has cut off another 1500 organizations at a single stroke, for a total of 5163 entities dissolved since 2018. The blow is total for vulnerable areas where the State does not provide assistance and thousands of Nicaraguan children and young people are already suffering the consequences. An analysis by Redacción Regional and DIVERGENTES shows that about 16% of the canceled entities correspond to institutions that work on educational issues, which further exacerbates the quality of precarious and partisan education, in a country with one of the most marked inequalities in Central America.
