15 people rescued after being kidnapped in Riohacha, La Guajira

Military Gaula troops rescued 15 people who had been kidnapped in a rural area of Riohacha, La Guajira. Among the kidnapped were a pregnant woman and three minors. They had allegedly been kidnapped and intimidated by approximately 10 suspected members of the Autodefensas Conquistadoras de la Sierra. Their belongings were stolen and they were taken to a remote area where large sums of money were demanded for their release. Authorities arrived, forcing the kidnappers to flee and abandon the 15 individuals. The National Army reaffirmed its commitment to the security of the civilian population and urged citizens to report threats via line 147.

Marches and Labor Day

The labor unions and workers of Cartagena commemorated International Labor Day yesterday with two parallel mobilizations that traversed strategic points of the city. Once Again

On more than one occasion, I have written about the lamentable state of some architectural relics in Cartagena, specifically the one that housed the Rafael Núñez School, on Pedro de Heredia Avenue, and the Casa del Consulado, located on Sargento Mayor street in the Historic Center. The first was designed by the renowned French architect Gastón Lelarge, who lived in the city for years, and the second, a colonial-era heritage property, is on the verge of collapse. Both buildings are owned by the department of Bolívar, but, as mentioned, they are located in the territory of its capital.

Danger

Today, many Colombians think Gustavo Petro has done all the possible damage to the country. I, personally, disagree with this. Despite the fact that the president has harmed us and shown his radical stance in terms of ideology, we have been saved by the fact that he works little, is scattered, has some vices, and his delusions of grandeur have led him to govern from afar without interfering in daily tasks and without paying attention to his duty to administer. The president is so self-centered that he is not concerned about rampant corruption or that no one in his government works out of conviction. Petro has surrounded himself with people who are looking out for their individual interests... some shameless people robbing the State. Scandals do not touch him because he victimizes himself and is capable of convincing his followers that the mistakes he makes are others' fault. His world is one of infiltrators and traitors who want to harm him. Everything is forgiven because he is an extraordinary purveyor of smoke.

Union Coalition calls for a march to the US Embassy in Caracas to demand a transition in Venezuela

The National Union of Workers Coalition announced the call for a new day of mobilization in the Venezuelan capital for next May 7, amid growing discontent in the labor sector over the Government's salary policy. Through its account on the social network X, the organization called on citizens to join the protest: "Attention Venezuela! We are mobilizing this May 7 towards the US Embassy." The call comes just a few days after the demonstrations for Labor Day, marked by demands for salary improvements and working conditions in the country.

Humanitarian emergency, repression, and forced migration: why it's not so easy to "get over it and forgive"

Over the last few hours, several Venezuelans responded to the message that the president of the National Assembly, Jorge Rodríguez, addressed to the diaspora who harbored "some type of resentment" against the Government.
