About 56 million people are on alert in the northwest of the USA due to a winter storm
Around 56 million people are under a winter alert in the northeastern United States, including 14 million in New York, where there is a blizzard warning, the first time in nine years such an alert has been issued for the Big Apple. The National Weather Service (NWS) raised the forecast for the severity of the storm affecting the mid-Atlantic and Appalachians, and cities such as Philadelphia, Delaware, Boston, and New York, where between 23 and 45 centimeters of snow could be expected. The storm will fully form this Sunday, with heavy snowfall and wind gusts across a wide sector of the northwest. The alert extends until Monday.
