The Silent Power of Gratitude
Saying thank you for a service received, a compliment, a gift, or any gesture of generosity is a way to recognize and appreciate what others do for us. From childhood, our parents strive to teach us to say this magic word every time we receive something: 'Thank you.' Doing so is not only a sign of good manners; it is also a way to build healthy relationships with others, whether close or not. Not thanking those who strive to please us can generate dislike and even resentment. It can open doors for us as well as close them if we do not practice the simple but powerful act of thanking.
