Venezuelan government talks with businessmen to export cocoa, chocolate, and coffee to China
The Venezuelan government discussed with Chinese businessmen to "dynamize the export processes" of products such as cocoa, chocolate, and coffee to the Asian country, the Venezuelan Ministry of Communication and Information reported this Thursday. Through a press release, it indicated that the Minister for Foreign Trade, Coromoto Godoy, met with a delegation of businessmen from the Guangdong province Chamber of Commerce. \n\n"The exchange focused on consolidating the presence of flagship products such as cocoa, chocolate, and coffee in the South China market," the state portfolio pointed out. During the meeting, the potential of Guangdong, "one of the most dynamic regions" of China, was evaluated, the Ministry stressed, and it was sought to "strengthen the Venezuelan export engine, taking advantage of the growing interest of the Chinese-Venezuelan community and local consumers in acquiring high-quality products" from the South American country. These meetings are part of the policies promoted by the government led by Delcy Rodríguez - who holds the position after the United States captured President Nicolás Maduro on January 3 during an attack in Caracas - to "diversify the country's sources of income," the state portfolio concluded. China maintains a close diplomatic and economic relationship with Venezuela, reinforced during the mandates of Chinese President Xi Jinping and Maduro, and has repeatedly defended the principles of state sovereignty and non-interference in international forums.
