At least three missing after a boat sinks in the Caribbean of Honduras

Two women and a baby were reported missing after a boat capsized in the Caribbean of Honduras and authorities launched a search operation, according to an official source in Tegucigalpa and local press media. The shipwreck of the vessel 'Mister Jimse' occurred on Thursday off the coast of Brus Laguna, Gracias a Dios department, in the east of the country, apparently due to bad weather conditions. The vessel departed from the port city of La Ceiba, Atlántida department, towards Puerto Lempira, in Gracias a Dios, with several people on board, and it is believed to have sunk off Brus Laguna. Armed Forces spokesman Mario Rivera indicated that Naval Force personnel are participating in a search and rescue operation. The number of people on board is unknown, and according to local media reports, most were rescued by fishermen working in the area. Media have also reported that two women and a baby were missing as of the early hours of this Friday. The Merchant Marine and the Naval Force of Honduras are following the case and are expected to provide further details about the shipwreck.
