Love of surrender

We begin to live Holy Week, the time when the Church invites us, more intensely, to live the paschal mystery: that immense act of love by which God gives himself for us to forgive us, redeem us, save us, and open the path to eternal life, to the fullness of his infinite love.

Love of surrender

TL;DR

  • Holy Week is an invitation to intensely experience the paschal mystery, God's act of love for forgiveness, redemption, and eternal life.
  • It's easy to treat Holy Week as just a holiday for leisure, risking the loss of its essential spiritual meaning.
  • The Passion, death, and resurrection of Jesus reveal God's boundless love and challenge us to examine our own lives.
  • Self-examination during Holy Week involves recognizing moments of betrayal (Judas), denial (Peter), hardness of heart, and indifference to injustice (Pilate).
  • We can also emulate figures like the Cyrenean, John, Veronica, and Mary by helping others, remaining faithful, comforting the suffering, and accompanying with love and hope.
  • The central invitation is to identify with Christ, allowing the Holy Spirit to transform us into beings capable of selfless love, humility, obedience, mercy, reconciliation, and fidelity.
  • The world urgently needs this kind of authentic love, which finds meaning in sacrifice for the sake of giving life.
  • The goal is to celebrate Easter not just as a historical event, but as a living experience of transformation and renewed commitment to love.
