Consecomercio President Urges Urgent Review of Tax Harmonization Law

The National Council of Commerce and Services (Consecomercio) reiterates its support for regional development and promotes decentralization as a path to an inclusive development model that transcends oil dependence and ensures legal certainty and respect for private property to attract investment. During March, the organization visited seven states and seven cities through its business route. March concluded with the regional directory of Consecomercio, held in Yaracuy, which included discussions on transversal and specific issues for the central-western region of Venezuela. The business event featured two talks: "Regions and Tax Decentralization" and "Yaracuy Future." José Gregorio Rodríguez, president of Consecomercio, highlighted the need for decentralization due to current resource centralization limiting regional development. He also emphasized the need to reduce tax pressure to incentivize private investment and prevent new taxes from affecting competitiveness. The panel "Yaracuy Future" pointed out the state's geographical location and industrial infrastructure as pillars for national food security, noting the need for reliable basic services to maintain operational competitiveness. Consecomercio invites to its 56th Annual Assembly, "Energy, Union, and Confidence to Grow," to be held in Barquisimeto on May 21-22, 2026.
