The Call
The ring of a telephone is heard. One of the old-fashioned ones. With a corded handset and a rotary dial. A man answers. He immediately recognizes the voice of a child no older than ten who greets him enthusiastically. 'Hello, it's me,' and without waiting for a response, launches into a barrage of questions as if there were no time to lose, as if it were a delayed task demanding immediate answers.
