In Medellín they saved an anteater run over with a pioneering operation in the country
A highly complex operation never before performed in the country allowed a medium anteater, also known as a tamandua, to be saved. The procedure was carried out in Medellín.

TL;DR
- A medium anteater (tamandua) was saved in Medellín after being severely injured in a traffic accident.
- The procedure involved a complex surgery, including osteosynthesis for a fracture and esophagostomy for feeding, which had not been previously documented in tamanduas in Colombia.
- The surgery was a joint effort between Corantioquia and the University of Antioquia's Veterinary Hospital.
- The tamandua is recovering favorably and is expected to take two to three months for rehabilitation.
- The successful operation is considered a milestone for wildlife conservation in Colombia.
