Hole in El Poblado Avenue: One lane opened

After a morning of evaluations of the box culvert of the La Presidenta stream, in the section passing through El Poblado Avenue, the Mayor's Office of Medellín announced that one of the directions of this corridor will be opened and the area where the intervention will take place due to the hole that caused this emergency will be closed.

Hole in El Poblado Avenue: One lane opened

TL;DR

  • One lane of El Poblado Avenue in Medellín has reopened following an evaluation of a box culvert under the La Presidenta stream.
  • The closure was caused by erosion that created a hole in the roadway, prompting an emergency response.
  • The north-south direction (towards Envigado) is now open, but the south-north direction requires drivers to follow established detours.
  • A separate closure affects access via the Monterrey roundabout due to related issues in the Patio Bonito neighborhood.
  • Repair timelines are expected to be announced in the coming days after further assessments.
  • Drivers heading south on El Poblado Avenue are advised to use Calle 7, Carrera 39, and Calle 9 as alternate routes.
